While the deep tissue massage uses slow circular motions to apply pressure, the Swedish massage uses faster, firmer strokes to stimulate the pressure points between the muscle fibers. While the Swedish massage may use quite direct pressure, it's more commonly used in conjunction with the pressures of the deep tissue massage. When the Swedish massage is applied, it's usually performed with another technique such as shiatsu to alleviate the tension that has been built up in the muscles from the deep tissue massage.

There are many health benefits of the sort of therapy. One is the reduction of stiffness and pain caused by inflammation, stress, and tension.
